Does the “New” Style of Toothbrush Actually Improve Cleaning Capability?
We think NOT! It is evident that the intention of the modern toothbrush shape is to “hug” the tooth and to even “get inside the cracks” between teeth. But this would be true only on certain teeth along the vertical surface. However, when you brush the top or bottom of the teeth, there will be a gap. And when you brush the backside of the teeth, where there is a reverse arch, there would be even MORE of a gap. This is absolutely illogical – to create a brush that is optimized for only one part of the mouth but actually does a worse job on the rest of the mouth.
So let’s say you attempt to brush your teeth with a modern multilevel brush along a straight section of your teeth like the tops or sides of your molars. This means that some parts get no coverage at all, and others, like sensitive gum tissue, receive more of the pressure than they should. So using a multilevel toothbrush could actually be harmful! If just a few of the bristles are longer than the rest, you will irritate your gums and cause gum erosion.
If it Ain’t Broke, Don’t fix it
The benefit of an old-fashioned flat-style toothbrush is that it works well against all straight AND curved surfaces in your mouth. With a little natural angle adjustment, all of your teeth will receive even coverage.
What is Propionate?
All of our toothbrush handles are made of Propionate. Cellulose Acetate Propionate (CAP) is a type of plastic made from wood pulp cellulose. It is strong, non-brittle, shiny and translucent, making it a perfect material for toothbrush handles and eyeglass frames.
Plain Toothbrush Dimensions
HANDLES
The adult and the kid’s brushes have flat, straight handles.
Adult Handle Dimensions – length: 7 inches, width: 1/2 inch, depth: 3/16 inch
Kids Handle Dimensions – length: 6 1/4 inches, width: 1/2 inch, depth: 3/16 inch
If you are wondering if they will fit through the old-fashioned toothbrush holders that you might have mounted to your bathroom wall… YES THEY WILL FIT! (see video exactly about this topic!) (That’s because they have the old-fashioned skinny handles.)
BRISTLES
These dimensions reflect the width and height of the bristle AREA, not the head itself, which is slightly larger than the bristle area. Note that the adult bristle layout has 11 rows of 4 and a top row of 3, which allows for a slight taper. The kid’s bristle layout has 8 rows of 3, with the top row bent into a slight arrow shape. The length of the bristles of all our adult toothbrush bristles, EXCEPT HARD, is 11mm. the hard toothbrush bristles are 9mm.
